Configuration Assistance

Active Directory

Indication

  • This service is required when the Carousel server must be configured to use an Active Directory service as a user store.

Requirements

  • Remote access to the application server
  • The ability to log into Windows using the local Administrator account
  • The Active Directory server must be accessible by the Carousel server on the end user network.
  • The necessary active directory groups are created in the proper location on the AD server

Checklist

  • Users can successfully log into Carousel and navigate the UI using their AD credentials

Remote SQL Server Integration

Indication

  • This service is required when the Carousel server must be configured to use an existing, non-local SQL Server installation.

Requirements

  • Remote access to the application server
  • The ability to log into Windows on the application server using the local Administrator account
  • The Carousel server must be able to access the SQL server over the network
  • A Carousel and FrontDoor Database have been created on or moved to the SQL Server
  • Management studio is installed on the application server and be able to connect with the Database server using the service account credentials
  • A Windows service account is created that has DBO access rights to both databases

Checklist

  • Users can log into Carousel and navigate the UI
  • User can successfully create and schedule a bulletin

Separate Media Directory Configuration

Indication

  • This service is required when the physical signage content media must be stored in a non-default location

Requirements

  • Remote access to the application server
  • The ability to log into Windows on the application server using the local Administrator account
  • The Carousel server must be able to access the desired media location
  • A Carousel and FrontDoor Database have been created on or moved to the SQL Server
  • Management studio is installed on the application server and be able to connect with the Database server using an account that has sufficient SQL credentials

Checklist

  • The media folder is located in the desired location
  • The media is present and accessible in the Carousel UI
  • A new bulletin can be created

SSL Installation and Player Setup

Indication

  • This service is required when the Carousel server must be configured to use HTTPS for security.

Requirements

  • Remote access to the server
  • The ability to log into Windows using the local Administrator account, or an existing Carousel service account
  • The customer has procured a Security Certificate (Self signed certificates are not supported)

Checklist

The following checklist items will be completed as a part of this Advanced Configuration Assistance service.

  • User will be able to access the Carousel user interface using it's secure URL
  • A Player will be able to connect to the server over the secure URL and download and display content from it
